A typical session

So what does a typical session look like at Acorn Preschool? Well, every session is different but here we hope to give you an idea of what your child will experience when they join us.

On arrival each morning you will see at the gate a Blue Trolley for lunch boxes (if staying for lunch), a tub for snack donations, the Black Crate for water bottles, a tray for Red Communication Books and our Lending Library.  At 08:45 the team will come out to open the gate, greet you and register the children in as they enter.  Children are supported to find their named peg and hang their coats and bags in the cloakroom.  Your child can then enjoy free play with other children and staff - toys, games, books, art, music, dress-up - there is plenty to pick from.

We believe in fresh air so your little one can go outside whatever the weather, with appropriate clothing. The Acorn team members will spend time playing, challenging and encouraging children in different activities and your child's own key person will be there whenever possible to ensure a consistent contact throughout their time with us.

A snack is available mid-morning and mid-afternoon, along with milk or water.

Children staying for the full day can eat their own packed lunch between 11.45am - 12.15pm.

At the end of the session the children join the Acorn team members in tidying the toys and then sit together for a story and a song. At home time the children sit in a circle ready to be collected and only leave us when their collecting adult has arrived at the gate.
