A typical session
So what does a typical session look like at Acorn Preschool? Well, every session is different but here we hope to give you an idea of what your child will experience when they join us.
We open at 08.45am and parents assist their little ones in finding their name card, selecting a peg, hanging coats and bags in the cloakroom and ensuring their snack is put into the box just inside the classroom (in the summer months this includes suncream too). There is always a member of staff on the door to greet your child and tick them into the register. Your child can then enjoy free play with other children and staff - toys, games, books, art, music, dress-up - there is plenty to pick from.
We believe in fresh air so your little one can go outside whatever the weather, with appropriate clothing. The Acorn team members will spend time playing, challenging and encouraging children in different activities and your child's own key person will be there whenever possible to ensure a consistent contact throughout their time with us.
A snack is available mid-morning and mid-afternoon, along with milk or water.
Children who have opted into our popular Lunch Club can eat their own packed lunch between 11.45am - 12.15pm.
At the end of the session the children join the Acorn team members in tidying the toys and then sit together for a story and a song. At home time the children sit in a circle ready to be collected and only leave us when you appear at the door.
